Alyssa took huge strides towards adulthood this week by moving in to her very first apartment! She and her roommate Lauren did a thorough job researching affordable apartments all on their own. Their place is super cute, reasonably priced, and close to CSULB where they both attend college. It has two bedrooms and they've been able to furnish it quite nicely with the help of their parents. There's also a police station on the same block, so it's very safe. We went to Target where Jubilee helped Alyssa pick out a few more necessities (check out the Oster blender on the bottom of the shopping cart), met some more of Alyssa's friends and then went home. She picked out some really cute decorations, and some other items like towels and storage units. She has great taste! I was very impressed how both Alyssa and Lauren had put their apartment together after only having moved in four days prior. They also have some other friends who will be moving into the same complex. How fun does that sound! I want to move in too!
We are all very proud of Alyssa--of what she's managed to accomplished on her own and the mature decisions she has been able to make at the tender age of twenty. Completing two successful years of college, maintaining good jobs, getting her own apartment... That's some pretty big stuff! I for one have tremendous admiration for Alyssa, as she is FAR braver than I ever was at that age.
